LADAKH

Ladakh is the largest city and capital of Ladakh. It is the largest district of Jammu & Kashmir state and second largest district of India after Kutch in terms of area. The altitude of Leh is 3500 meter. It has mainly two weather winter and summer. Winter season start from October to March end.
Kargil
Kargil is located 204 km from Srinagar on Leh ¬ Srinagar highway. It is the second largest city in Ladakh after Leh. Kargil lies behind the Zoji¬La pass approached from Baltal, base campe for famous Amaranth Shrine.
Nubra Valley
Nubra Valley is popularly know as Ldumra or valley of flowers. It is situated in the North of city Leh between karakoram and Ladakh ranges of Himalyas. Nubra lies at average altitude about 10,000 feet above sea lavel. Deskit is the sub ¬ division headquarter of Nubra. The road to Nubra runs accross Khardung - La (5578 m. altitute), the heighest motorable road in world.
Zanskar Valley
Zanskar valley is a very famous for its cultures and monasteries. Padum is the district headquarter of Zanskar. Zanskar valley is some very famous monasterires such as Zangla, Zungkhul, Karshan, Sani, Stongde, Puktal, Burdan etc. Zanskar valley is also famous for trekking and expeditions.
Drogpas The Aryans
Drogpa areas have been outlined in the tour Circuits. Out of 5 Drogpa villages in India two are open for foreign tourists. The most attraction in these areas is the villages of Dha and Bema which are entirely populated by last leftovers of the Dards in the District. Dards are considered as last race of Aryans confined to Indus valley. These villages have significant anthropological and ethnographic importance. There is a very good road leading right upto Dropa village and tourists can stay over night in some private guesthouses or at some identified camping site at Khaltsi Dhomkhar, Skurbucan, Achinathang.
Pangon Lake
Pangong Lake is situated at an altitude of 14000 ft. above the sea level, in the eastern sector of Ladakh. Pangong Lake is at a distance of 154 km from Leh across Changla pass (17000 ft. above sea level). Pangong lake is 130 km. long and 5 to 6 km. wide and is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes of the country.
Tsomoriri
Tsomoriri Lake located in the Changthang (northern plains) area, is a High Altitude Lake with an altitude of 4620m, the largest of the High Altitude Lakes in the Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region, entirely within India. It is 23 km long and 4 to 5 km wide and is hemmed between Ladakh in the North and Tibet in the east and Zanskar in the west.
Tsokar
Tsokar Lake is approximately 95 km northwest of the Tsomoriri Lake at a height of 4,490m. It is also called "White Lake" because of the salt deposited around it- this is because there is no outlet from the lake which makes the water brackish. In ancient times, the salt from the lake used to take out and sell it all over Ladakh and Kashmir by the local nomads known as the Changpas.
